The adventure begins in Plymouth, where riders gather, load the bikes onto the ferry, and settle into their private cabins for the overnight crossing to Spain. This is the perfect chance to relax, share introductions, and get into the spirit of the journey while enjoying the sea air and the excitement of what lies ahead.
Day two takes the group from Santander to Burgos, a gentle reintroduction to Spanish roads as we cruise through the rolling hills and historic heartlands of Castile y León. Burgos, with its magnificent Gothic cathedral and lively old town, sets the tone for the cultural treasures still to come.
On day three, the ride pushes further south across the vast plains of central Spain to Ciudad Real, a land steeped in the legacy of Don Quixote. The open roads offer long, sweeping miles, with scattered windmills and rustic villages providing reminders of Spain’s timeless countryside charm.
Day four delivers a change of scenery as we head for the Andalusian hills and Granada, framed by the snow-capped Sierra Nevada. Here riders can stroll the winding streets of the old quarter, admire views of the Alhambra palace, and enjoy a night immersed in the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
Day five sees us descend toward the coast, riding through sun-drenched olive groves and whitewashed villages en route to Tarifa — Europe’s southernmost point. The following morning, we’ll board the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar, leaving Europe behind as Morocco awaits.
Crossing the Strait of Gibraltar, riders disembark at Tangier and are greeted by the vibrant sounds, colors, and scents of North Africa. The atmosphere shifts instantly — bustling souks, winding streets, and the call to prayer drifting through the air. The day’s ride heads inland to the Blue City of Chefchaouen, famous for its striking indigo-washed walls and mountain backdrop. Evenings here are spent wandering the medina and soaking in the city’s unique charm.
Day seven takes the group deeper into Morocco’s rugged Rif Mountains, following twisting roads through dramatic valleys and remote villages. The ride concludes in Fez, Morocco’s oldest imperial city. Here, riders can lose themselves in the labyrinth of the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, alive with spice markets, artisans, and ancient mosques.
The next day, the route turns south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, where cedar forests and high plateaus replace the bustle of the cities. Riders may spot wild monkeys near Ifrane before continuing to Midelt, a high-altitude town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. Surrounded by vast mountain landscapes, this stop offers a quiet evening of reflection under the stars.
On day nine, the group descends from the Middle Atlas toward the edge of the Sahara Desert. The landscape transforms into sweeping plains and rocky plateaus before finally reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. Here, riders trade the roar of engines for the stillness of the desert, with the option to explore by camel or simply watch the sun set over the dunes before a night under the stars in a traditional desert camp.
Day ten begins with a dawn ride from the desert camp, where the rising sun casts golden light across the dunes of Merzouga. Riders take in the silence of the Sahara before setting off toward the Todra Gorge, its sheer cliffs and narrow canyon walls creating one of Morocco’s most dramatic landscapes.
The journey continues through the Dades Gorge, following a serpentine road of endless switchbacks that carve through red-rock valleys. This thrilling stretch is a highlight for motorcyclists, with breathtaking views around every bend.
On day twelve, the group ascends the High Atlas Mountains, tackling iconic passes like the Tizi n’Tichka, where sweeping curves and panoramic vistas offer unforgettable riding. By evening, riders descend into the vibrant city of Marrakech, where the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square comes alive with storytellers, food stalls, and music.
A free day in Marrakech allows time to explore — whether wandering the spice markets, visiting the Majorelle Gardens, or simply soaking up the atmosphere from a rooftop café. On day fourteen, the route turns westward, cutting across valleys and rolling plains toward the Atlantic coast, where sea breezes signal a new chapter of the adventure.
The journey continues along Morocco’s stunning Atlantic coastline, with a stop in Essaouira, a laid-back port city known for its fortified walls, vibrant medina, and windswept beaches. Riders can stroll the ramparts, watch fishermen bring in the day’s catch, or enjoy freshly grilled seafood by the ocean.
On day sixteen, the group rides north along coastal roads to Casablanca, Morocco’s modern metropolis, where the striking Hassan II Mosque rises above the Atlantic. The evening offers a final taste of Moroccan nightlife before the return north.
Day seventeen brings a relaxed ride back toward Rabat and Tangier, with time to explore Morocco’s capital or enjoy one last mint tea in a seaside café. By day eighteen, the group boards the ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar, retracing the path back into Spain.
The adventure isn’t over yet. Day nineteen leads to Granada, where riders can once again enjoy the charm of Andalusia, framed by the Sierra Nevada. The following day continues north to Ciudad Real, with long, open stretches of Castilian countryside offering a chance to reflect on the journey.
On the final day, day twenty-one, the group completes the return ride to Santander, where the ferry awaits for the crossing back to the UK. As the sun sets over the Bay of Biscay, riders gather for a final toast, celebrating not only the miles covered, but the memories, friendships, and once-in-a-lifetime adventure that was The Great Moroccan Ride.
