Day 1 — Plymouth to Potes

Plymouth to Potes

Ferry from Plymouth, overnight on the Bay of Biscay, docking in Santander and riding straight into the Picos foothills. First stop at 1,050m above Potes at the Mirador del Zorro.

Day 2 — Fuente De to Villafranca del Bierzo

Fuente De to Villafranca del Bierzo

N-621 south, Mirador del Corzo, the high mountain miradors of Pandetrave and Valdión, a proper local lunch — and pizza in the town square at Villafranca as the sun went down.

Villafranca del Bierzo to Santiago de Compostela

Into the Galician mountains, coffee at the ancient Samos monastery, a long lunch by the river, and one of the standout hotels of the entire trip — a 300-year-old farmhouse on the hills outside Santiago.

A Day in Santiago de Compostela

The great cathedral, cobbled streets, pilgrims arriving fresh off the Camino, pulpo a la gallega — and a long, indulgent afternoon back at the Galician farmhouse pool.

Santiago de Compostela to León

Mountain passes, forest roads, ancient stone villages and brilliant twisties heading east — arriving into magnificent medieval León, where the guided and self-guided groups reunited over a very long dinner table.

Day 6  ·  26th May 2026

León to Argomaniz

Heading north through Cervera de Pisguera and the mountain roads of Las Rozas de Valdearroyo, lakeside lunch by the reservoir, then east to the Parador de Argomaniz — and a Wild Roads farewell dinner for four.

Argomaniz to the Pyrenees

Final farewells at a Basque village coffee stop, then deeper into the mountains — a turquoise lake, first Pyrenean views, the Larrau Pass at 1,585m, and a descent into France for two nights of rest and excellent steaks.

Day 8  ·  28th May 2026

A Rest Day in Montory

A split day based in Montory — some riders take the pool and explore the village, others head into the high Pyrenean passes, reach the snow line in brilliant May sunshine, and everyone reunites for cold beers in a traditional Basque bar.

Day 9  ·  29th May 2026

Montory to San Sebastián

Down from the Pyrenees, through the Basque Country and into San Sebastián — one of Europe’s great food cities. The group explores the old town, pintxos bars, and the famous La Concha bay.

Day 10  ·  30th May 2026

San Sebastián to Mungia

Leaving San Sebastián through the Basque Country’s spectacular twisting roads — forests, traditional villages, mountain passes — and climbing to a charming hilltop hotel above Bilbao in Mungia.

Day 11  ·  31st May 2026

Mungia to the Picos

Down from Bilbao’s hills, through the Picos, one final mountain col — then north to Santillana del Mar and a night at the magnificent Parador de Gil Blas before the ferry home.

Day 12  ·  2nd June 2026

Santillana del Mar to the Ferry Home

A final relaxed morning in Santillana del Mar — coffee, a long lunch, the cobbled old town one last time — then the road to Santander, boarding the 4pm ferry, and the Bay of Biscay carrying everyone safely home.
